The states only facility for producing cool- and warm water fish, including 700 incubation jars for northern pike and walleye eggs, 20 incubators for trout and salmon eggs, and 30 rearing tanks inside and 8 raceways, 38 rearing ponds, two hiking trails, boat launch and fishing pier outside. The Visitor Center includes an aquarium and several displays.

Waubay National Wildlife Refuge
Waubay National Wildlife Refuge is located in the prairie pothole region, the largest duck production area in the continental United States. The refuge includes 4,650 acres of lakes, marshes, grasslands, and woodlands which support diverse and abundant wildlife; 245 species of birds have been observed. Both eastern and western bird species of the United States can be found here.

Day County Museum
Located in the Day County Courthouse, 711 W. 1st St. (lower level). Includes hundreds of historical items such as the gown worn by Mrs. Sigurd Anderson at the Governor’s Inaugural Ball in 1951, an Indian headdress presented to the governor at the Sitting Bull monument dedication, and excellence collection of early day guns and farm equipment. Open Wednesday & Friday, 1:00 – 4:00 PM.

Fort Sisseton Historical State Park
Walk the grounds where the officers quarters, stone barracks, powder magazine, guard house, and other buildings remain at frontier Fort Sisseton. This 1864 fort, atop the Coteau des Prairies, is a rare reminder of the western frontier.
